Enter key not working on laptop or notebook keyboard
X-Win32 7.1 and earlier may map the Enter key on some laptops as the numeric keypad Enter key instead of the standard Enter key. This can cause the Enter key to either have no effect on a laptop or notebook keyboard, or it can cause the Enter key to act as another key, such as the Shift key.
There are two ways to handle this problem:
- Upgrade to X-Win32 8 or later, as this problem has been completely resolved in X-Win32 8 and later
- Modify your keyboard map in X-Win32 7.1 or earlier:
- Open X-Config’s Input tab
- Click Edit… to edit the keyboard layout
- Click on the Enter key (which may be labeled as Ent)
- Click in the box labeled Unshifted, which should have a value of KP_Enter
- Select Keyboard -> Keyboard 8 -> Return from the popup menu
- Save the keyboard map and restart X-Win32
- The problem should be resolved
