Unlike its major rivals, Exceed (Hummingbird) and Reflection-X (WRQ/Attachmate), X-Win32 offers a highly focused PC X server that offers superior performance and productivity features, stability, ease of use and low cost (40% or better in most cases).

StarNet also delivers unequaled customer support. Our state-of-the-art engineering infrastructure allows us to fix problems and make a new release available quickly (overnight in many cases). As our testimonials page shows, StarNet customers consistently rate their X-Win32 experience as the best in the industry.

Preventing users from using X-Config

A system administrator can prevent X-Win32 users from using X-Config (e.g. when using X-Win32 in a kiosk, lab, or other controlled environment) in several ways, described below.

Ways to disable X-Config

  1. Change the permissions on C:\Program Files\StarNet\X-Win32 7.1\XConfig32.exe so that only select users or groups can run X-Config (the X-Win32 configuration utility)
  1. XConfig32.exe can also be deleted; X-Win32 will continue to function normally in all other aspects

Note that removing the X-Config shortcut from the Start Menu is not effective because X-Config can also be started from the X-Win32 tray menu or system menu.
