Too many authentication failures in StarNetSSH sessions
When starting an SSH session with X-Win32 to connect to your remote Linux or UNIX host, you may receive the following message in X-Win32’s Messages window.

Too many authentication failures for username
This error means that the remote sshd server has reached the maximum number of login attempts allowed per connection. There are a few reasons that this can happen, listed below.
Causes and solutions for this error
- You received this error after entering an incorrect password in a password prompt
- Solution: Either enter the correct password next time or find your correct password if you do not know it
- You received this error but were never prompted for a password
- Solution: You may have saved the wrong password in your SSH session in X-Config. In this case you will need to edit the session in X-Config and either correct the saved password or remove the saved password entry.
