X-Win32 v8.1 Adds Innovative Features to Blazing Performance

Sunnyvale, November 15, 2006 —StarNet Communications of Sunnyvale (California) announces the release of X-Win32 Version 8.1, adding innovative features and new host connectivity options to the performance improvements made earlier this summer in the 8.0 release.

New Features in 8.1 include:

• New Connection Options: X-Win32 now offers three new ways of connecting to remote Unix and Linux hosts. In addition to XDMCP, RSH, REXEX and SSH, users can now also invoke sessions by way of the Command Line, Telnet and Rlogin.
• Quick-Connect. This feature allows new users, especially those unfamiliar with Linux or Unix terminology to quickly connect to a remote desktop and run various applications on the remote X desktop.
• Global Password Updating. A unique feature that allows users to change the login/passwords of all their sessions or just those sessions for a specific host stored in a session folder.
• The StarNetSSH connect module has been improved with Private Key files and a PuTTY Key Agent in order to use private keys generated with PuTTY or OpenSSH

Other functionalities added in 8.1 include:

• XDMCP Multicast sends a query for access to a pre-specified list of hosts. This is a highly productive feature for users on LANs with dozens of host systems. Multi-Cast lets you “see the forest thru the trees” so to speak.
• PseudoColor Support has been added to support a number of legacy applications that require pseudocolor support.

“Version 8.1 extends the range of options for the more advanced users to connect to a remote Unix and Linux host system. And for those who are new to X servers, the Quick Connect feature makes it very simple to bring up a Unix and Linux desktop onto a Windows-based PC and work productively with various applications hosted on the remote machine," said StarNet co-founder and CEO Steven Schoch.

X-Win32 lists at US$225.00 in single license quantity. Volume discounts are available for commercial, government and educational users. A free trial license will be issued when a trial version of X-Win32 Version 8 is downloaded.
