Sunnyvale – August 18, 2009: StarNet Communications of Sunnyvale, California, a leading developer of Windows/Linux/UNIX connectivity solutions, today announced X-Win32 9.5. In a major upgrade of StarNet’s LIVE connection technology, V9.5 is the first PC X server to conveniently store session configurations on the remote host rather than the Windows client.
By storing the LIVE session configurations on the remote host, X-Win32 users can now access their sessions from any Windows workstation. Thanks to StarNet’s new LinuxLIVE client, the same sessions can now be accessed from any Linux workstation as well. “As long as you can connect to the remote host from a windows or Linux PC, you can access your sessions. It is a set-up-once/use-from-anywhere solution that will make LIVE sessions even more simple and productive, explained Steven Schoch, StarNet co-founder and Chief Executive Officer.
Using a combination of user-named sessions and different icons for KDE, GNOME and CDE remote desktops, users can easily identify the session they want. The user interface also shows the status of each session, such as whether it is suspended or running. Another new feature allows users to run multiple instances of the same session and install the LIVE server on “gateway” servers from which they can connect to applications on other Linux and Unix hosts.
LIVE remote access technology is StarNet’s answer to VNC, allowing Windows and Linux users to reconnect to applications running on remote Unix and Linux hosts after an otherwise fatal network, power or system failure. Users can also share their remote applications with other Windows users and suspend their sessions on their office PC and resume them at home.
X-Win32 9.5 lists at $225.00 (commercial) in volume 1-10. Additional volume discounts are available as well as special pricing for government and educational institutions. X-Win32 9.5 can be downloaded for evaluation from http://www.starnet.com/products/xwin32/download.php
