Installing X-Win32 Live
X-Win32 Live is currently available in X-Win32 9.0. To download, visit the Download Page and enter the license key you received.
Creating a LIVE Session
- Start X-Win32 and right-click the X-Win32 icon in the systray. Select X-Config
- Click Manual and select the LIVE connect option.

- Complete the text boxes for Session name, host name or IP address. Login & password are optional. For security it is best to leave these blank so that you can be prompted when starting or resuming a session. Also select the desktop environment available on your host and select the display resolution.
- If you are running a non-root (tar) installation on the server, click to the Advanced tab and prepend the installation bin directory to the Remote Server Interface Program. This will usually be LIVEServer/bin/rxsci.
- When completed, highlight the session and click LAUNCH
- You will be prompted for Login/PW and/or other security information. After a few seconds, the desktop will appear on the monitor. You can now run your applications
SUSPEND/RESUME
SUSPEND: You can suspend a session simply by clicking the “X” close button of the main Window. You will be prompted with a “Suspend, Terminate, Cancel” prompt. Click suspend and the session will immediately disappear.

RESUME: To resume, left-click the X-Win32 Icon in the Systray and select the session to be resumed. After the security prompts the desktop will reappear with all the applications that were running when you suspended the session. You can also resume the session from the X-Config Sessions dialog using the Launch button.
SESSION MOBILITY
LIVE Sessions can be moved from one PC to another. Here are a few ways to do that:
- Use a USB Flash drive. X-Win32 can be installed on a USB Flash drive. You can suspend a session, take the USB key to another PC and resume the session.
- Assuming that the other PC also has X-Win32 installed, you can set up an identical session on the second PC. You can thus suspend the session on PC #1 and resume it on PC #2. even if you forgot to suspend the session on PC #1, you can still move the session to PC #2, simply by resuming it there.
