X-Admin32 Features & Instructions

X-Admin32 is a unique new Session Distribution tool that allows users to create sessions, save the sessions to a file and email the file to other users (or save it to a shared network folder) who can then instantly use the sessions.

X-Admin32 allows Windows users even those who are unfamiliar with UNIX or Linux and do not know how to set up sessions to work productively with Linux and UNIX applications. It will also allow engineers and manager to easily distribute sessions to a large group of co-workers or staff. And you can use the X-Admin32 tool to gain access to your sessions from any computer in your organization by accessing the session file on a shared network folder.

X-Admin32 Instructions

Use the Custom Installation to install X-Win32 and check the X-Admin32 box, then:

Step 1: Open X-Admin32 (from Taskbar - Programs - X-Win32) and create a new session.
Step 2: Use the "Save As" function to save the session as a .reg file.
Step 3: Test the session by double clicking the X-Admin32 file you just created. This will add the session to the X-Win32 Sessions list. Go to X-Win32 and run the session to ensure it is working properly.
Step 4: Email the X-Admin32 file to another user or save it to a network folder. Double clicking the attachment will install the session on the other person's computer and he/she is able to instantly use the session.

NOTE: The X-Admin32 file may fail to install on some older Windows computers because they use an older version of the Windows Registry editor. The work-around is to edit the first line in the text of the .reg file as follows:

Step 1: Right-click the .reg file, then, "OpenWith/Notepad." The first line will read something like: "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00".
Step 2: Create a .reg file on the older Windows system with X-Admin32. Also open this file to see how the first line reads (example: "Windows Registry Editor Version 4.1").
Step 3: Edit the first .reg file to read "5.00" instead of "4.1".
Step 4: Save the file. Double clicking the file will now install the sessions correctly in X-Win32.
