Microsoft has released a new security update for Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package which overwrites kb2467175. This new patch has once again broke compatibility with X-Win32. 2011 Build 144 or later fixes this issue. Build 144 is available at http://www.starnet.com/upgrade
**First uninstall the old version before installing the patched version
Background
On April 12, 2011 Microsoft released a security update for Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package as documented in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2467175 X-Win32 uses this package as part of it's core libraries and the patch broke compatibility with previous versions of X-Win32.
Solution
There are several solutions/workarounds to this issue
Upgrade X-Win32
2011 Build 144 or later fixes this issue. Build 144 is available at http://www.starnet.com/upgrade
Downgrade the Visual C++ Version
- Uninstall
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributablefrom the Control Panel - Reinstall X-Win32. X-Win32 will install the previously compatible Redistributable package without the security fix
Upgrade Your Windows
Windows Vista or Windows 7 are not affected by the Microsoft Security Update
