FastX 4 Client Connections


After downloading and installing the FastX 4 client, launch the client. A listing of existing connections will appear. If this is the first time launching the client, the list will be empty.

Double click on an existing connection to connect to the FastX server.

New Connection

To create a new connection, click on the + icon.

An Edit Connection window will be prompted

The FastX client provides an SSH or HTTPS (web) connection. Select your desired connection.

SSH

SSH connection uses SSH to connect to your FastX server.

Fill out the fields and hit OK to create.

  • Host (required) – Domain or IP of the desired FastX server host
  • User – Username of the Linux user connecting
  • Port – Port used to connect (Default is 22)
  • Name – Name of the connection (If no name is supplied, host is defaulted as the Name)

Advanced (For basic SSH connections, not required)

  • Run – Runs the exec-fastx-protocol. Non-root or custom installations may require the path to the exec-fastx-protocol.
  • Plink Options – Option command(s) for Plink
  • Use PLink SSH program (default checked) – Uses PLink SSH program.
  • Forward Agent Connection (default checked) – Forwards agent connections.
  • Route all Connections Through SSH (default unchecked) – Routes all connections through SSH.
  • Ignore SSL errors (default checked) – Will ignore SSL errors.
  • Debug Logging (default unchecked) – Will display debug logging messages.

HTTPS

HTTPS connects to the FastX server using HTTPS. The FastX web server running is required.

Fill out the fields and hit OK to create.

  • Host (required) – Domain or IP of the desired FastX server host
  • User – Username of the Linux user connecting
  • Port – Port used to connect (Default is 3300)
  • Uri – Uniform Resource Identifier
  • Auth – Authentication type
    • SSH
    • OpenID Connect
    • SAML
  • Name – Name of the connection (If no name is supplied, host is defaulted as the Name)

Advanced

  • Ignore SSL errors (default checked) – Will ignore SSL errors.
  • Route all Connections Through Gateway (default unchecked) – Will route connections through a gateway.

Edit Connection

Double click on an existing connection or single click on the connection select the edit icon

Multiple Connections

To connect to multiple FastX servers at the same time, click on the add another connection icon on the top right.

This will add a connection tab.

After connecting to the FastX server, the tab name will change to the name of the connection.

Delete Connection

To delete a connection, single click on the connection. Then click on the delete icon located on the right.

Additional Information

Favorites

Users can designate any existing connection as a favorite. This will place the connection in a Favorites group.

Single click on a connection and then select the Favorite heart icon. A filled heart icon indicates that the connection has already been selected as a favorite.

Sorting

Users can sort their connections by selecting the dropdown which is to the right of the create a new connection icon.

Users can choose the following categories to sort.

  • Favorites – Connection in which the heart icon is selected
  • User – User created connections
  • System – System created connections
  • All – Every connection

Connection File Location

Users can open a window with the location of their created connections for sharing or copying the connection file with it’s configurations to a different client installation. Click on File, then Connection Folder.

Import Connections

Users can import shared connections by clicking on File, then Import Connections. This will import the shared connection file with it’s configuration to your local machine.

This is the sharing icon which does not work in FastX 4.
